Contrast therapy is a simple yet powerful practice that has been around for a very, very long time with the ancient Greeks & Romans using this method to help treat various health conditions. In today’s society we have so much more evidence based research that tells us how beneficial it can be for the human body. 

Contrast therapy is alternating between two extreme temperatures, cold & hot water. During cold water immersion, your body responds to the treatment by contracting your capillaries whereas during heat therapy, your capillaries open up and become larger. This helps improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage through the body, reduces muscle inflammation and pain and helps build a strong immune system. Alongside that, you can see an improvement in your sleep, higher energy levels, reduced stress and better skin health. 

There are no set rules on how you want to navigate your hour in the bathhouse. We suggest to start in the sauna (have a very quick rinse to wash the sweat off) and jump straight into the cold plunge. Once you are ready to get out, head straight for the hot spa and allow your body to relax and melt away. As for how long, that’s very much up to you if you want to go through each just one time or cycle through.
